About the Role

This role will own the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for the end-to-end Pro experience, spanning installation, connection, remote management and diagnostics, and reusable platform capabilities for ecobee and its partners. You will partner closely with Design, Engineering, Research, Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Customer Support, and partners to turn a complex channel strategy into a focused product plan with measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the multi-year Professional Experience strategy, translating ecobee’s ambition to win with Pros into clear choices about target segments, customer problems, investment priorities, and sequencing.
  • Lead discovery and delivery across the full Pro journey, including installation and first run, device linking, homeowner consent, fleet visibility and control, reliability, remote diagnostics, and ongoing service workflows.
  • Build a deep understanding of HVAC professionals and channel dynamics through field research, segmentation, product data, competitive intelligence, advisory councils, and direct engagement with contractors, distributors, and partners.
  • Define and drive the domain’s data and insight strategy. Establish trusted product-health reviews and use metrics such as Pro CSAT, first-run completion time, linking rate, etc. to set priorities and evaluate results.
  • Partner with Engineering and Design to deliver simple, reliable workflows across thermostat firmware, mobile, cloud, web tools, and APIs while actively managing cross-team dependencies and raising execution standards.
  • Shape the product and commercial model for Pro tooling and services, including the value exchanged among ecobee, HVAC professionals, homeowners, distributors, and partners. Partner with Sales, Business Development, Marketing, and Finance on business cases, monetization, launch strategy, and channel enablement.
  • Create executive-ready narratives that move decisions forward. Communicate the vision, rationale, trade-offs, roadmap, risks, and results clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Act as a force multiplier for the Product organization by mentoring PMs, improving product practices, and modeling best practices.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of relevant product management experience, with demonstrated ownership of a product area spanning multiple adjacent products, experiences, or teams.
  • A track record of defining multi-year product strategy in an ambiguous environment and converting it into focused roadmaps, investment cases, and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-platform customer experiences involving a combination of connected hardware, firmware, mobile or web software, cloud services, data, and APIs.
  • Strong product discovery and customer-research skills, including the judgment to identify which unknowns matter, select the right validation method, and move forward with an appropriate level of confidence.
  • Experience with professional, B2B, channel, fleet-management, field-service, HVAC, connected-home, or partner-platform products is strongly valued.
  • Commercial fluency and business stewardship. You can evaluate market dynamics, segment needs, revenue and margin implications, platform reuse, partner economics, and monetization options to guide investment decisions.
  • Data fluency and analytical rigor. You can define a North Star and operating KPIs, identify instrumentation gaps, assess product health, and use quantitative and qualitative evidence to guide decisions.
  • Technical credibility with engineering teams and the ability to reason about system constraints, data access and consent, integrations, reliability, security, and platform trade-offs without losing sight of the customer outcome.
  • Executive communication and influence. You can build concise, compelling narratives, align leaders with different incentives, and take a clear position in difficult or ambiguous decisions.
  • A self-starting, low-ego leadership style. You create clarity, build trust across functions, mentor others, and are comfortable engaging in tough conversations to move the business forward.
  • The hired candidate will be required to complete a background check.
