About the Role
As a Data Engineer (m/f/d) at Flink, you will be instrumental in developing and improving our Data Platform & ML Platform. You will operate within a modern Data Engineering environment, contributing to the central Data Platform team and utilizing cutting-edge technologies on Google Cloud Platform.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Analysts, Product Managers, and Operations professionals to build and manage data products and pipelines that enhance business efficiency.
- Develop and maintain services and pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and processing data from internal and external systems (batch and streaming) into BigQuery, utilizing Python, Airflow, dbt, and Pub/Sub.
- Contribute to a robust data quality and observability framework for data products, ensuring data completeness and reliability through monitoring, alerting, and an on-duty rotation.
- Evolve the Data Platform infrastructure as code (Terraform on GCP), including access control, cost-effective BigQuery design, and GDPR compliance.
- Utilize and build AI tooling (AI coding agents, skills, MCP servers) to accelerate personal productivity and enable self-service use of the Data Platform by other teams.
Requirements
- Possess 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering or data-centric Software Engineering role (more experience is preferred for senior positions).
- Demonstrate strong Python and SQL skills, particularly in building data pipelines and interacting with REST APIs, databases (relational and non-relational), etc.
- Have hands-on experience with Apache Airflow for orchestrating data workloads.
- Possess hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform data solutions and services, including BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.
- Have experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Config Connector).
- Experience with dbt, Kubernetes, and streaming technologies is a plus.
- Actively use AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) in daily work and are enthusiastic about AI's impact on data engineering.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think independently and proactively identify solutions.
- Communicate effectively in English, both spoken and written.
