About the Role
We are seeking a Systems Engineer with strong robotics and software skills to contribute to the development of Applied Intuition’s autonomous trucking system. This role involves owning requirements, architecture, and verification for system components, ensuring alignment from customer needs to vehicle testing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and OEM partners to bring an L4 product to production.
Responsibilities
- Translate customer, operational, and regulatory needs into system, subsystem, and component requirements, maintaining them in Polarion.
- Define subsystem functions, inputs, outputs, interfaces, and P-diagrams, securing review and approval from leads.
- Contribute to writing system architecture as code (SysML v2) via a pull request workflow, ensuring component ownership and synchronizing Cameo models.
- Develop diagnostic and fault-management requirements, including fault detection thresholds, FTTI, degradation strategy, and minimal-risk maneuvers.
- Conduct safety analyses (e.g., STPA) and translate unsafe control actions into requirements, test cases, and safety performance indicators.
- Define pass/fail criteria for simulation and in-vehicle testing, ensuring precision and machine readability.
- Maintain end-to-end traceability from capability to requirement, test case, scenario, observer, and result.
- Produce ASPICE work products and evidence (SYS.1–SYS.5, SWE.1/5/6 support) and prepare the team for assessments.
- Represent systems engineering to OEM partners and regulators for requirement reviews, validation plans, and homologation.
- Utilize and develop AI-assisted tools (LLM agents, MCP integrations, scripts) for automating traceability, triage, and requirement authoring.
Requirements
- 2+ years of systems engineering experience in requirements, functional decomposition and allocation, interface definition, and verification and validation.
- Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, or ADAS software systems.
- Hands-on experience with a requirements tool (Polarion, DOORS, Jama).
- Experience with MBSE / SysML (Cameo or SysML v2).
- Comfort working within a codebase using Git, pull requests, Python, and YAML.
- Experience with at least one safety analysis method (STPA, FMEA, FTA, HARA).
- Clear written communication skills and ability to drive alignment across engineering teams and with external customers.
