About the Role
The Java Software Engineer develops high-quality software solutions based on design requirements, ensuring code quality, standards compliance, and timely delivery that meets business and technical specifications.
Responsibilities
- Translate business and technical requirements into robust, scalable program code
- Design, develop, and maintain application modules and components in accordance with established standards and methodologies
- Engineer efficient algorithms and data structures to solve complex technical problems
- Implement full-stack solutions using Java and related technologies
- Ensure all code adheres to programming guidelines, best practices, and security standards
- Develop and execute comprehensive unit test packages and document results to validate quality
- Support and participate in integration testing, system testing, UAT, and implementation activities
- Conduct peer code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency
- Validate that software and subroutines perform to specification
- Manage changes to configurable items including hardware, software, and documentation
- Execute configuration management planning, identification, controls, and audits
- Maintain version control and ensure traceability of all code changes
- Diagnose and resolve reported problems or bugs to ensure smooth production execution
- Investigate errors and root causes, initiating amendments and testing for optimal system operation
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement effective, timely solutions
- Optimize application performance through profiling, analysis, and targeted improvements
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive, up-to-date system and technical documentation
- Ensure all deliverables comply with security guidelines, coding standards, and regulatory requirements
- Document test results, system specifications, and technical artefacts for governance and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate closely with team leads, architects, Business Analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Participate actively in requirements gathering sessions and review functional specifications
- Align design and code with architecture standards and project objectives
- Communicate technical proposals and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Requirements
- 1–4 years of professional experience in developing and delivering application software
- Relevant system development and maintenance experience using Java-related technologies
- Strong proficiency in Java and related frameworks
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to think creatively and analytically
- Proficient in written and spoken English
- Willingness to travel as required
- Initiative and strong commitment to results and quality standards
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and high energy
- Customer-focused with strong service orientation
- Adaptable to changing requirements and priorities
