About the Role
HERE Technologies is seeking a Lead UX/UI Designer to join the HERE Design System team. This role involves defining, delivering, and evangelizing the next generation of design resources for a wide range of digital platforms, including web, mobile, and in-car automotive solutions. The HERE Design System supports designer and developer needs in system design, product UI, and data visualization. The successful candidate will work hands-on to add user value to products and drive the standardization of creation, processing, quality assurance, and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Design for simplicity in an ecosystem of highly technical products and services.
- Create comprehensive design documentation for knowledge transfer.
- Work closely with software engineering to understand technical realities and ensure proper implementation.
- Collaborate with developers and designers to gather feedback and improve the HERE Design System.
- Handle multiple projects, manage key stakeholders, and meet deadlines.
- Solve customer problems based on data and best UX practices.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in Digital Design, Interaction Design, Software Product Design, or related discipline.
- At least 6+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Exceptional, high-quality UI and UX work portfolio demonstrating ability to design, prototype, and build user-centric web and mobile applications (automotive applications a bonus).
- Systematic approach to design, with the ability to break down user-centric problems and narratives.
- Ability to communicate design narrative and decisions to a variety of audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to convey visual and non-visual ideas from sketches to high-fidelity designs.
- Strong collaboration skills with team members from different disciplines and stakeholders.
- Excellent understanding of design systems, including design tokens, components, color systems, accessibility, and documentation.
- Ability to evolve and scale the HERE Design System using research and data.
- Solid experience in applying common design processes and standards.
- Experience following agile development practices.
- Knowledge in HTML and CSS.
- Experience working with version control systems (e.g., Gitlab, SVN, Github) is a big plus.
- Candidates will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment screening process, including employment, education, and criminal verification if applicable.
