About the Role
University Settlement partners with over 40,000 New Yorkers annually to foster healthy, stable, and remarkable lives. For nearly 140 years, we have combatted poverty and systemic inequality by developing effective social services in collaboration with our neighbors. As the first Settlement House in the United States, founded in 1886, we uphold the values of that movement by meeting New Yorkers where they are, actively listening, and fostering responsive cooperation. We aim to build community strength by providing stable foundations for individuals of all ages to grow and achieve their dreams. Our programs integrate civic engagement, equality, and communal action across various services including early childhood education, youth development, healthy aging, mental health, adult English classes, community centers, and the arts. The LEARN Older Adults Programs, serving the Lower East Side of Manhattan, offer comprehensive services to diverse adults aged 60 and above, including case assistance, meals, health and wellness activities, and recreational and educational opportunities. With new funding from the Village View Housing Corporation, we are expanding our services by adding a NORC program and are seeking a part-time Social Worker.
