About the Role
Promise is building a function to combat online threats, including fabricated documents, edited Wikipedia pages, fake reviews, and planted stories. This role is the first person in that function, with authority over external firms and a direct line to the CEO. You will own all surfaces where Promise and its leaders are judged online.
Responsibilities
- Build tripwires to monitor various online platforms for company, executive, and client mentions.
- Attribute online threats using account-graph analysis, stylometry, metadata, and timing.
- Enforce platform policies through internal processes like biography-of-living-persons notices and sockpuppet investigations.
- Support legal counsel with evidence packages, public records requests, and referrals.
- Respond to threats with platform bans, regulator referrals, or formal complaints when attribution is solid.
- Protect executives from doxxing, impersonation, phishing domains, and physical-security signals.
- Write clear, concise, and exact documentation for noticeboards, referrals, and evidence memos.
Requirements
- Experience in a trust and safety investigator role at a major platform (threat disruption, influence operations, or Wikimedia Trust and Safety).
- Experience as a disinformation researcher who has attributed coordinated account networks.
- Experience as a threat intelligence analyst at a reputable firm.
- Experience as an OSINT investigative journalist with a digital forensics record.
- Ability to use AI fluently for analysis and threat detection.
- Ability to explain complex investigative concepts clearly.
- Must reside in the US.
- Must be a US person (US citizen or permanent resident).
