About the Role
We’re hiring an IT Engineer to manage IT and workplace operations at our San Francisco office. You’ll keep the office running and our team productive by managing AV and conferencing systems, office equipment and vendors, serving as the first point of contact for IT support, and handling daily systems access in Okta. You will also ensure new hires are set up and ready to go. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys a mix of helping people, managing systems, and setting up physical spaces. You’ll work independently, own your area from start to finish, and partner with our infrastructure engineer on installs, network work, and equipment purchases. As the company grows, there’s room to grow with it by launching new offices, taking a bigger part in endpoint security or identity management. This role will report to the Sr. IT Manager.
Responsibilities
- Manage IT operations for our SF office: AV and conferencing systems, corporate network, office equipment, supplies, and the vendors behind them.
- Serve as the first stop for IT help for SF-based employees: triage hardware and software issues, manage devices from setup to retirement, and keep people productive.
- Run onboarding and offboarding end to end, working with People/HR on timing, setting up and removing systems access, and ensuring every new hire’s laptop and accounts are ready before day one.
- Make each new hire’s first day smooth and welcoming.
- Manage daily systems access in Okta for SF staff: user setup, groups, MFA and access requests, partnering with the central Security & IT team on policy and escalations.
- Lead physical installs such as AV setups and network drops, and buy the equipment the office needs, working closely with the engineer who owns our core infrastructure.
- As we grow, help launch new offices, take a bigger role in compliance work like SOC 2 access reviews, and potentially build and lead a small IT support team.
Requirements
- 5+ years in IT support, workplace operations, or a similar hybrid role.
- Comfortable switching between helping people and handling hardware.
- Hands-on Okta experience (or another identity provider) and ability to manage user setup, groups, MFA, and access troubleshooting without a runbook.
- Experience setting up and fixing AV and conferencing systems and general office IT hardware.
- Experience running onboarding and offboarding: devices ready, access in place, day one handled.
- Strong customer-service instinct: responsive, patient, and able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and own a whole area.
- Willingness to perform tasks like running cables, unboxing equipment, and fixing conference rooms.
- Happy working from our SF office 3 days a week.
- Uses AI to improve workflows and learn on the job.
