About the Role
We are seeking a Robotics Test Technician to validate our robots' readiness through comprehensive software and hardware testing. This role involves hands-on robot bring-up, executing test procedures, collecting data, and identifying issues. You will collaborate with engineers, gaining insights into software and hardware integration on a live system. A significant portion of the work will be conducted outdoors, requiring meticulous attention to detail to ensure the safe autonomous operation of heavy robots.
Responsibilities
- Execute test procedures during robot bring-up, following written test plans and acceptance criteria.
- Run system test campaigns on heavy robots in outdoor conditions, including varied weather, lighting, dust, and temperature.
- Record test results accurately and consistently, including pass/fail outcomes, measurements, logs, and observations.
- Set up, operate, and maintain mechanical and electrical test fixtures and instrumentation.
- Run regression and characterization tests on prototypes and production hardware, including pick-and-place accuracy and cycle time checks.
- Run tests across various panel SKUs and site conditions the robot must handle in production.
- Flag failures and unexpected behavior quickly, providing clear notes and data.
- Follow safety procedures for testing large autonomous machines around people and equipment.
- Maintain organized test logs, data, and reports for traceability back to requirements.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in test, QA, validation, or a similar hands-on technical role, ideally with robotics, autonomous systems, automotive, or other complex physical systems.
- B.S. degree in robotics, MechE, EE, CS, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Working knowledge of Python for running scripts, pulling logs, and basic data analysis.
- Comfortable in a Linux terminal.
- Comfortable assembling or adjusting test fixtures and instrumentation.
- Ability to follow test procedures precisely, document observations, and report issues promptly.
- Comfortable working hands-on with heavy machinery outdoors and adhering strictly to procedures.
- Able to work well with light supervision.
