About the Role

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Buffalo, NY is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases, assist DVMs with estimates, perform diagnostics, set up patients, discharge patients, and handle client communication.

Responsibilities

Assist with nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Stock, clean and maintain cleanliness in our ER, ICU and other designated areas for the role.
Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration under the guidance of an LVT.
Perform radiography and lab work.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Engage with our clients by performing triages, going over estimates and providing discharge instruction.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.

VTNE reimbursements
Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS.
Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates.
Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150.
Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year.
Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year.
Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours.

Salary/Compensations

$19.40 - $25.00 / hour
Competitive shift differentials
Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$3.50/hr. Shift Differential
Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$3.50/hr. Shift Differential
Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.00/hr. Shift Differential
