About the Role
fomo is expanding into three product lines: spot trading, tokenized equities, and perps. We are seeking a Staff Product Designer to ensure a cohesive and intuitive user experience across all products, maintaining the distinct fomo feel. This role involves end-to-end ownership of a product line's design, from strategic decisions to final implementation, and collaborating with founders, product, and engineering to set design direction and establish systems and patterns.
Responsibilities
- Own the design of a full product line across mobile and web, from problem framing and strategy to shipped product
- Set design direction with the founders and engineering, translating ambiguous ideas into a clear point of view
- Ensure coherence between spot trading, tokenized equities, and perps for a seamless user experience
- Lead the architecture of the fomo design system, including core patterns for trading, real-time data, charts, and social features
- Prototype rapidly at high fidelity to test interactions and flows, partnering with frontend engineers through implementation
- Raise the craft bar across the team through critique, clear design principles, and personal work
- Help build the design team by shaping hiring, interviewing, and onboarding processes, and mentoring new designers
- Explore and implement AI and new tooling to accelerate design and shipping processes
Requirements
- 8+ years of product design experience, including time at a staff or lead level, or as an early designer who owned a product from inception to launch
- A portfolio showcasing exceptional craft and strategic impact, with examples of products shaped and their resulting outcomes
- Experience setting direction for an entire product or platform
- Experience building or evolving a design system that has been adopted by others
- Proven ability to influence founders, product, and engineering leaders without formal authority
- Strong prototyping skills
- Comfort iterating and shipping with AI and new tools
- Ability to thrive with autonomy and ownership on a small, flat team
- Experience designing complex consumer financial products (trading, investing, payments, or crypto) is a significant advantage
- Personal crypto trading experience is a plus
