About the Role
The Activism & Shareholder Advisory Team at Perella Weinberg advises clients on shareholder activism, takeover defense, vulnerability assessment, activism preparedness, corporate governance, live defense, proxy fights, contested M&A, and hostile situations. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a career in a critical, rapidly evolving area of the merger landscape under the guidance of experienced M&A professionals.
Responsibilities
- Partnering with industry coverage groups to prepare client presentations
- Understanding key provisions in a public company’s governance documents
- Providing real-time judgments and insight into trading dynamics for clients
- Developing research on public investors and the shareholder activism landscape
- Maintaining group databases
- Acting as the day-to-day client contact on live situations
- Coordinating with external parties on live situations (e.g., lawyers and proxy solicitors)
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in a classic investment banking coverage role
- Ideally some experience in a market-facing role (private-side capital raising or public-side investing)
- Ideally some experience working on a live shareholder activism situation
- Solid understanding of company valuation concepts (comparable multiples, DCF, LBO, etc.)
- Keen interest in global markets and macroeconomic environment
- Highly organized and analytical mind
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of data
- Exceptional project management skills with ability to prioritize competing projects and deadlines
- Intellectual curiosity and creativity, with a demonstrated interest in learning about M&A
- Self-starting and proactive personality
- Ability to thrive under tight deadlines and on real-time developing situations
- Highest standard of integrity
- Strong foundational knowledge of investment banking
- Experience through previous roles
- Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing
- Ability to perform under pressure
