About the Role

Join the Private Cloud Compute (PCC) team to build Apple's privacy-preserving cloud inference platform. You will design and ship Swift frameworks and sandboxed services for the on-device client side of the inference pipeline, ensuring privacy and correctness for every Apple Intelligence and Foundation Models request.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve on-device client SDKs and XPC services, balancing API ergonomics with strict process-isolation and attestation guarantees.
  • Implement high-throughput, low-latency request paths including protobuf serialization, payload compression, session state management, retry/cancellation semantics, and streaming of incremental model output.
  • Own concurrency and resource management across Swift Concurrency, AsyncStream, and GCD, including cancellation, back-pressure, and lifetime management of XPC connections.
  • Build telemetry, signposts, and privacy-audited logging for diagnosing request failures without exposing user data.
  • Collaborate with server-side, Foundation Models, attestation, and platform-frameworks teams; write design documents, lead reviews, and mentor engineers.
  • Profile on real hardware using Instruments to reduce memory, latency, and energy costs in the request path.

Requirements

  • Experience developing complex, system-level frameworks, daemons, or background services for iOS and macOS.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Swift.
  • Experience with Objective-C or C/C++ for lower-level system integration.
  • Deep understanding of concurrency (Swift Concurrency, GCD), memory management, and asynchronous network programming.
