About the Role
Meta is seeking a senior Content Policy Manager to shape policies and frameworks governing account and product operations across its platforms. This role involves leading a team and contributing individually, focusing on policy counseling for new products, integrity safeguards, AI content moderation governance, and decision-making. The position requires strategic vision, hands-on judgment, and the ability to build scalable, defensible frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of policy professionals, setting priorities, providing coaching, and ensuring high-quality policy output across content moderation processes.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to assess policy risks in new launches, tests, and product changes, defining safeguards, flagging tradeoffs, and clarifying escalation paths.
- Own policy counseling for actor-level enforcement, assessing proposals for impacts on free expression, safety, and enforcement precision.
- Shape governance and policy frameworks for AI-driven content moderation to ensure defensibility and accuracy at scale.
- Establish and refine processes for cross-functional approvals and leadership review, preparing clear recommendations and accelerating alignment.
- Support escalation coverage and on-call rotation, making rapid, defensible policy decisions during escalations and time-sensitive incidents.
- Contribute to election readiness and crisis response efforts, coordinating with integrity and legal teams.
- Work irregular hours, including early mornings, late nights, or weekends, as needed for policy escalations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in content policy, trust and safety, platform integrity, or a related field.
- Experience managing or mentoring individual contributors.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams to deliver impact without direct authority.
- Track record of making high-judgment decisions under time pressure, with the judgment to know when to escalate.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with potentially sensitive or objectionable topics.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public policy, law, communications, political science, or related field).
- Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to define policy requirements for new product launches or feature tests.
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
- Experience in platform governance or content moderation at a large-scale technology platform.
- Experience supporting elections integrity or crisis response operations at a technology platform.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact.
- Experience assessing policy tradeoffs across free expression, safety, and product goals and translating those assessments into clear recommendations.
- Experience communicating complex policy positions clearly and succinctly in writing to technical, operational, and executive audiences.
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices.
- Experience developing frameworks for AI-driven or automated decision-making systems.
