About the Role
Opportunity for an experienced nursery cook who will also work in the classroom and complete a Level 3 in Childcare. This role involves the day-to-day running of the kitchen, preparation of organic meals, and supporting classroom activities for children aged 6 months to 4 years.
Responsibilities
- Solely responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Preparation of an entirely organic set menu plan.
- Preparation of morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack.
- Supporting room leaders and the team within classrooms.
- Maintaining high hygiene standards to ensure a safe working environment following Food Standard Agency/ Environmental Health guidelines.
- Prepare a balanced rotating menu considering the children's dietary and cultural requirements.
- Maintaining necessary kitchen procedures and records.
- Undertake any other reasonable catering duties as requested by the Nursery Manager.
- Ensure all crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are washed following food safety guidelines.
- Ensure that all foods are ready at the specified time and correctly served.
- Implement and maintain the company’s equal opportunities policy.
- Caring for the children.
- Supervising their daily activities.
- Organising and preparing activities and materials.
Requirements
- Experience preparing food for large numbers of children and or adults.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or above.
- Food Allergen Awareness.
- At least one year of childcare experience.
- Health & Safety and safeguarding practices.
- References will be thoroughly checked.
- Will apply for a DBS update service.
- Will apply for a DBS equivalent from any country the applicant was in prior to the UK and within the last 5 years.
