About the Role
We are hiring our Director of Lifecycle to build Amplify's lifecycle program from the ground up. You will design the strategy, select tools, write initial communications, build initial customer journeys, and validate effectiveness. This role covers the entire customer relationship, from pre-policy stages like quoting and application to post-policy activities such as onboarding, retention, reviews, upgrades, and referrals. You will report directly to the CMO and collaborate with licensed agents, product, data, compliance, and brand teams.
Responsibilities
- Audit all current messages, touchpoints, and data sources, and map the customer journey from quote to policyholder or lapse.
- Implement immediate improvements such as faster quote follow-ups, nurture sequences for undecided prospects, and streamlined digital lead to agent handoffs.
- Establish a policy delivery and early onboarding sequence to ensure new customers maintain coverage.
- Validate and enhance the lifecycle technology stack, including HubSpot, SMS, and other necessary tools, ensuring data integrity from lead events to agent outcomes and policy status.
- Present a comprehensive 6-month lifecycle strategy with defined priorities, targets, and measurement plans.
- Own lifecycle strategy and execution across email, SMS, and agent handoffs.
- Develop and manage automated journeys for various stages including quote follow-up, nurture, application completion, agent handoff, policy delivery, early-tenure retention, annual reviews, term conversion, upsells, referrals, and re-engaging stalled leads.
- Independently write, design, build, QA, and launch campaigns.
- Define segmentation and personalization strategies based on customer segments, products, funnel stages, and customer value.
- Collaborate with the agent team on lead routing, speed to lead, and pre- and post-call processes.
- Implement and manage a continuous test-and-learn program with control groups to measure lifecycle impact.
- Partner with product on online quote and application flow improvements, and with data on event tracking and attribution.
- Manage compliance review processes, ensuring deliverability, list health, and consent adherence (TCPA, CAN-SPAM, state insurance marketing rules, GDPR/CCPA).
- Report on lifecycle program performance using key metrics such as quote-to-application conversion, CAC, commission revenue payback, and early lapse rates.
- Build a business case for, hire, and lead a lifecycle team as the program scales.
Requirements
- 8+ years in lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing, with 2-3 years leading the function or a significant part of it.
- Proven track record of building a lifecycle program from scratch.
- Experience with considered purchases requiring handoffs to sales or advisor teams (e.g., insurance, financial services, high-ticket products).
- Hands-on proficiency in at least one modern lifecycle platform (e.g., Braze, Iterable, Customer.io, Klaviyo), with a preference for HubSpot.
- Experience navigating compliance or legal review in regulated industries, including SMS and phone consent rules.
- Strong analytical skills, including comfort with dashboards, spreadsheets, basic SQL, and designing tests with control groups.
- Sharp, on-brand copywriting skills capable of simplifying complex financial products.
- Working knowledge of lifecycle data, including events, contact properties, identity resolution, and data flow from CRM, CDP, or warehouse.
- Clear communication skills with executives and cross-functional partners, able to articulate program value in revenue terms.
