About the Role
Curtis Lumber is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our Corporate office team in Ballston Spa as a Commodity Lumber Buyer.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate need for and direct price changes, including contract and promotional pricing.
- Research and establish sell prices and GM% for non-commodity items, submitting for review.
- Research and set prices for commodity items in collaboration with management.
- Regularly review product lines for sales and GM performance.
- Analyze sales and usage reports to determine product ordering quantities and timing.
- Develop action plans to modify product strategy based on market conditions and sales data.
- Monitor market conditions to anticipate price changes, supply shortages, and industry shifts.
- Review new product lines for compatibility with existing mix and determine ordering strategy.
- Develop plans for existing inventory, including close-outs or buybacks.
- Select vendors after researching their background.
- Plan new item setup in yards and stores.
- Communicate new items to Marketing, Sales, and Operations departments.
- Plan new item training and education.
- Research and propose GM% and sell prices.
- Execute timely review of product success/failure.

Salary/Compensations
- Starting between $68,000 and $70,000 annually with annual performance based raises.
