About the Role

As a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer, you will take outcome responsibility in challenging customer engagements. You will bring together executive, business, and technology stakeholders, translate complex challenges into clear decisions, and orchestrate the right experts and technologies. Your goal is to create measurable business value from technological possibilities – from the initial idea to a scalable productive solution.

Responsibilities

Take outcome responsibility for complex and strategic customer engagements, working with executive, business, and technology stakeholders, and translating strategic goals and complex requirements into measurable outcomes and clear decisions.
Lead discovery, assessment, and solution shaping for demanding projects, prioritizing opportunities and ensuring that business ownership, success metrics, assumptions, and evidence form the basis for investment and implementation decisions.
Define the technological direction for AI, Generative AI, Data, Cloud, and Enterprise Architecture, manage prototypes and experiments, and evaluate solutions regarding security, Responsible AI, scalability, operational readiness, costs, and business value.
Orchestrate multidisciplinary teams and FDE experts from Engineering, Architecture, Product, Transformation, Delivery, and Operations, maintaining a shared outcome focus from the initial solution approach to adoption, scaling, and value realization.
Act as a trusted advisor and technical leader, constructively challenge decisions, ensure the quality of forward-deployed work, develop other FDEs through mentoring and coaching, and transfer experiences from customer projects into scalable methods, assets, and best practices.

Requirements

Typically possess 10+ years of relevant professional experience in AI or software engineering, solution architecture, consulting, customer engineering, product, technology delivery, or comparable fields, including extensive responsibility in demanding customer engagements.
Possess deep expertise in Enterprise Architecture, AI Engineering, Data, Integration, and Cloud, along with a broad understanding of Generative AI, agentic systems, RAG, automation, security, Responsible AI, and productive AI solutions.
Have demonstrably led complex enterprise engagements and can connect technical, economic, and organizational decisions with business value, risk, costs, time-to-value, adoption, and scalability.
Convince through executive communication and leadership, build trusting relationships with senior stakeholders, manage multidisciplinary teams even without formal authority, and have experience in mentoring, coaching, or technical quality assurance.
Combine strategic and commercial judgment with technical depth, act confidently even with high ambiguity, and hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Data Science, Business Technology, or a related field, or a comparable combination of education and extensive relevant professional experience.
Possess fluent German (min. C1) and very good English skills to confidently communicate complex topics, coordinate decisions, and guide customers through demanding technology projects.
