About the Role
The Laboratory Team Lead will supervise histology laboratory and administrative assistant personnel, including training and performance evaluations. This role involves developing new procedures, evaluating equipment and reagents, recognizing abnormal results, troubleshooting instruments, and reviewing slides with a Pathologist.
Responsibilities
- Supervise histology laboratory and administrative assistant personnel
- Train new personnel
- Conduct performance evaluations in the lead area
- Develop new procedures
- Evaluate new equipment and reagents
- Recognize abnormal results
- Troubleshoot instrument problems
- Recognize quality control problems
- Routinely review slides with Pathologist
- Log in, label, and process specimens
- Perform embedding
- Perform paraffin microtomy
- Perform cryostat microtomy
- Perform non-gynecological specimen processing
- Stain slides
- Perform special stains
- Perform gross description of small biopsies according to protocol
Requirements
- Associates Degree, HT (ASCP) or eligible
- Bachelors Degree, HTL (ASCP) or eligible
- MLS (ASCP) with successful completion of Histotechnology training course and HTL (ASCP) certification within two years of hire
