About the Role

Perry Weather builds field-deployed weather monitoring and outdoor warning hardware. We're hiring an Electrical Engineer to contribute to the hardware platform, focusing on PCB verification, manufacturing readiness, component sourcing, power system design, and root-cause investigation of field hardware issues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform schematic capture and PCB layout execution using Altium Designer.
  • Verify impedance and DFM, managing the CM/Fab House submission and review process.
  • Manage component sourcing and BOM, finding and validating replacements for obsolete or out-of-stock parts.
  • Design and characterize 12V/24V power architectures, select load-switch/eFuse ICs, and perform battery/solar runtime characterization.
  • Integrate new sensors and peripherals onto the Custom PCB Carrier via approved expansion interfaces.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on field-reported hardware issues using bench instrumentation.
  • Improve manufacturing processes, address grounding/ESD compliance, and build automated manufacturing test fixtures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5-7 years of hands-on electrical/hardware engineering experience, ideally on field-deployed products.
  • Proven experience in Altium Designer (or similar) for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Comfort verifying board designs against fab constraints, including controlled impedance and differential pairs.
  • Experience selecting components from datasheets and sourcing alternates.
  • Working knowledge of power electronics fundamentals.
  • Practical familiarity with I²C, RS-485/Modbus, and Ethernet/IP integration.
  • Proficiency with bench instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and electronic loads.
  • Experience with root-cause analysis on field-failed hardware.
  • Direct experience working with contract manufacturers or PCB fab houses.
