About the Role
As Country Chief Accountant (m/w/d), you will be responsible for the quality and reliability of local financial reporting, ensuring compliance with legal and internal accounting standards. You will serve as the central point of contact between the Shared Service Center, the local Finance Team, and external partners, ensuring accurate and transparent implementation of financial statements, balance sheet items, and financial controls. You will work closely with the Country Finance Manager and support the continuous improvement of finance processes.
Responsibilities
- Review bookings, reconciliations, and financial data prepared by the Shared Service Center, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee compliance with local accounting and reporting obligations, coordinating annual financial statements, tax advisors, auditors, and authorities.
- Ensure the quality of balance sheet reconciliations, review significant and risk-prone accounts, and enhance the local control system.
- Guarantee the implementation of group-wide accounting policies, identify and improve processes, controls, and workflows, and support new systems and finance processes locally.
- Act as the primary contact for accounting matters in the German market, collaborating closely with the Country Finance Manager, SSC, Tax, Audit, and other international Finance functions.
Requirements
- Completed degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a comparable commercial qualification, ideally supplemented by further training as a certified accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter).
- Several years of relevant experience in Accounting, Financial Reporting, or Audit, preferably in an international corporate environment.
- Very good knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and experience with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and ideally IFRS.
- Good knowledge of relevant German tax and legal requirements and experience working with auditors, tax advisors, and authorities.
- Very good German language skills and good English language skills for international collaboration.
