About the Role

The Cloud Platform Department is responsible for provisioning Rakuten Mobile's virtual cloud infrastructure. This role specifically focuses on designing, developing, deploying, and supporting the hardware platform for the core data center of Rakuten Mobile's virtual network. The team works with vendors and handles hardware engineering, design, deployment, and maintenance for a large-scale virtualized mobile network architecture. This position aims to enhance the team's design and development capabilities by hiring engineers with specialized knowledge and skills in cloud infrastructure hardware, keeping pace with next-generation technologies and promoting efficient project execution.

Responsibilities

Define server HW specification and research new technology
Perform server HW and parts evaluation (BMC, network, storage, CPU)
Support production server HW deployment
Support production server HW handover to the operation team
Support production server HW operation
Investigate server HW related issues, identify root causes, apply preventive actions, and support replacement and repair
Communicate with vendors regarding hardware specifications, evaluation, deployment, operation, and issue resolution

Requirements

Knowledge in server and component design
5+ years of experience in server and component design
Knowledge in Linux OS and device driver
Experience developing tools using shell script or Python
