About the Role
Performs manually and by machine, housekeeping duties which contribute to the cleanliness and safety of residents, patients, guests, visitors, and other personnel.
Responsibilities
- Promote a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment to ensure optimum patient care.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Prioritize customer service, treating customers in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact.
- Effectively communicate about hospital services and ensure concerns reach the appropriate personnel.
- Scrub, strip, finish, refinish, spray buff, and maintain all floors.
- Maintain equipment in good working order and exchange/replace ancillary parts.
- Perform duties of an Environmental Services worker when instructed.
- Ensure equipment has appropriate safety labels.
- Inventory and inspect all equipment upon arrival and before use.
- Track equipment on an inventory log or daily sign-out log.
- Follow hand hygiene protocol.
- Wear gloves when exposed to cleaning solutions or soil.
- Wear safety glasses when high dusting/cleaning, mixing or dispensing chemicals.
- Use "Caution" signs during floor care operations.
- Keep electrical cords for floor machines away from traffic areas and guard them with "Caution" signs/tape.
- Follow hand hygiene and PPE donning/doffing protocol.
- Dust floor after buffing.
- Never use dirty pads to buff a floor; turn pads over or replace them when dirty or saturated.
- Move the machine with an overlapping back and forth motion when burnishing.
Requirements
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- One year as an Environmental Service worker.

- One year as an Environmental Service worker
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED
