About the Role
Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) seeks to hire Part-Time After School Counselors / Group Leaders for its Bronx location. This role involves supervising scholars, implementing CPNYC's curriculum, and assisting children with academic growth in an activity-based environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall supervision to scholars during after-school hours.
- Carry out the daily schedule with activities including arts and crafts, homework help, reading, and sports & fitness.
- Implement the CPNYC curriculum to help children improve literacy, values, and physical fitness.
- Assist with planning and creating innovative, age-appropriate activities.
- Develop and conduct daily lesson plans, including reading, storytelling, songs, and games.
- Help maintain enrollment and daily attendance records.
- Assist children with homework and guide their academic growth.
- Conduct field trips or attend events using public transportation and traversing city streets.
- Stand 50% of the time during the shift.
Requirements
- At least one year of childcare experience in an after-school setting.
- Ability to work with youth and the general public.
- Ability to use public transportation or traverse city streets for field trips.
- Ability to occasionally ascend/descend stairs and be exposed to outside weather conditions.
Skills
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Energetic and enthusiastic in working with youth.
