About the Role

You will lead Enablement, the platform group responsible for infrastructure, delivery pipelines, and reliability practices. You will collaborate with the Expansion team to ensure the platform accelerates feature delivery and supports product ambitions.

Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction and a roadmap for platform, DevOps, and SRE work, prioritizing it against feature demand.
  • Treat the platform as a product, understanding internal team needs, measuring adoption and satisfaction, and investing to remove friction.
  • Improve CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and developer tooling to reduce lead times and operational toil.
  • Make sound trade-offs on scalability, security, cost, and resilience in AWS, and manage the platform's cloud spend.
  • Own SLOs, error budgets, and observability across the platform and its services.
  • Lead incident response and on-call practices, conducting blameless post-incident reviews.
  • Integrate security-minded design into platform defaults, collaborating with security and compliance teams.
  • Partner with the Expansion team lead and Product Managers to ensure platform capacity and constraints are visible in planning.
  • Balance technical investment against new build, communicating trade-offs on capacity and risk to stakeholders.
  • Use team charters to define Enablement’s mission, interaction modes, and boundaries with stream-aligned teams.
  • Coach and develop engineers, fostering a culture of constructive feedback and psychological safety.
  • Lead hiring and retention for platform and SRE roles.
  • Lead complex cross-team projects, guiding teams through technical and organizational change.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Engineering and Principal Engineers to mature engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE, including running production systems at scale.
  • Strong production experience with AWS and Kubernetes/Docker.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience (e.g., Terraform or CloudFormation) and modern CI/CD practice.
  • Experience owning reliability: incident management, SLOs, observability, performance, and capacity planning.
  • Security-minded design and a working understanding of cloud security and compliance.
  • Solid grounding in relational databases (Postgres/SQL) and asynchronous messaging.
  • Sufficient familiarity with Go and the wider stack for credible design reviews.
  • A track record of managing engineers or teams, preferably platform or infrastructure teams.
  • Clear communication with senior and non-technical stakeholders on capacity, constraints, and risk.
  • Motivation driven by the growth and success of people.
  • Experience treating a platform as an internal product with measurable developer-experience outcomes (Desirable).
  • Familiarity with Team Topologies and DORA metrics (Desirable).
  • Experience working with Product on prioritization across platform and feature work (Desirable).
