About the Role
As a Senior Data Scientist on Lennar's People Analytics team, you will build models to anticipate workforce needs such as attrition risk, hiring demands, and underlying trends. You will also develop AI agents to deliver these insights directly to HR leaders, ensuring forecasts inform decision-making. This is a new role with significant autonomy to shape modeling approaches, validation standards, and presentation of results to senior leadership. You will collaborate with HR COEs, utilize Workday and other HR systems, and analyze metrics from Visier. You will report to the Head of People Analytics.
Responsibilities
- Partner directly with HR leaders to understand forecasting and automation needs, building trusted models and agents.
- Build and deploy predictive models using Python and SQL, monitoring performance and refining accuracy over time.
- Develop AI agents capable of querying, reasoning over, and acting on People data, ensuring safe operation with sensitive workforce information.
- Select appropriate statistical methods, including experimentation and causal inference, quantify uncertainty, and explain methodologies to senior leadership.
- Utilize LLMs to identify patterns in unstructured People data, such as survey comments and exit interview notes, and integrate findings into models.
- Gain deep familiarity with Lennar's people data, extracting and structuring data, identifying gaps, and collaborating with Data Engineering on pipelines.
- Explain statistical concepts, model results, and agent behavior clearly to non-quantitative HR and business audiences.
- Handle sensitive workforce and compensation data with discretion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Economics, Math, Computer Science, or a related analytical field with equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience (1+ with PhD, 3+ with MS) as a data scientist producing models and engineering solutions in a production environment.
- Depth in predictive modeling, including regression, time series forecasting, and classification.
- Strong statistical foundation, including experimentation and causal inference, with the judgment to select appropriate methods.
- Proven ability to work independently, design validation approaches, and articulate methodology to technical and non-technical reviewers.
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs (agents, tool use, retrieval, prompt-driven workflows) and using tools like Claude.
- Experience with large, complex operational or HR datasets, including cleaning, structuring, and extracting data via SQL or APIs.
- Fluency in SQL and strong proficiency in Python.
- Ability to explain model results and agent behavior in plain language to non-technical leaders.
- Ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move/carry up to 25 lbs.
