About the Role
Adaptyv is expanding to London in 2026, establishing a hub for the UK protein engineering ecosystem. As the founding operator, you will own the UK operation end-to-end, including establishing the company, opening the lab, building the team, and managing day-to-day business.
Responsibilities
- Build the London lab from lease to operational status, managing fit-out, contractors, equipment, suppliers, permits, timelines, and budget.
- Build the founding UK team, hiring across lab operations, automation, and science.
- Set up and run Adaptyv UK, including entity establishment, banking, accounting, payroll, insurance, budgeting, and contracts.
- Own the local customer experience, managing onboarding through experiment delivery.
- Build the local network by developing relationships with landlords, contractors, vendors, universities, biotechs, and partners.
Requirements
- Proven experience building something from scratch, ideally launching a new site, geography, business unit, or physical operation for a fast-growing company.
- Experience in labs, clinics, manufacturing, hardware, or other infrastructure-heavy businesses is relevant.
- Exceptional generalist ability, comfortable moving between property, finance, legal, hiring, customers, and operations.
- Ability to learn quickly, ask the right questions, and identify when specialist input is needed.
- Proven ability to get things done, including strong negotiation skills, decision-making, follow-up, and project management.
- High degree of ownership and initiative.
- Strong life-sciences background, with a degree and/or professional experience in the life sciences.
- Comfortable using AI tools in daily work.
- Must be based in London or ready to relocate.
