About the Role
As a technical lead within Client Data Engineering, you will facilitate interactions with Client Teams, implement retailer-specific transformations, and ensure adherence to best practices in modeling, quality, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Audit and scope data at each client, including sources, volume, data quality, latency, and security.
- Conduct gap analysis and develop action plans for client onboarding and specific requests prioritized by the Product Owner.
- Implement retailer-specific pipelines and transformations using dbt/SQL and Databricks jobs, including packaging and documentation.
- Perform usage-oriented modeling, including marts, standardized metrics, and data contracts, along with testing and observability.
- Act as an interface between internal teams (Product, Platform Eng., DataOps) and Client Teams, providing training and enablement.
Requirements
- Hold a Master's degree from an engineering school or equivalent.
- Possess 2-4 years of experience as an Analytics Engineer or Data Engineer focused on BI.
- Demonstrate excellent SQL and dbt proficiency.
- Showcase good practices in data testing and CI/CD.
- Have an understanding of retail concepts (sales, margin, promotion, category KPIs).
- Exhibit pedagogical skills, client focus, and thorough documentation practices.
- Experience with at least one Cloud platform.
- Proficiency in modern data platforms like Databricks, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog.
- Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow) and ELT pipelines.
- Understanding of analytical models and retail KPIs.
- Mastery of Git/CI/CD and best practices for data quality and testing.
- Ability to simplify technical concepts for business and client teams.
- Demonstrate rigor, attention to detail, and a high standard for quality.
- Possess analytical skills and strong teamwork abilities.
- Exhibit a solution-oriented mindset and autonomy in problem-solving.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and a strong sense of customer service.
