About the Role
We're seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to join a growing engineering organization focused on modernizing lending technology. This individual will provide technical leadership for a pod of 5-6 engineers while remaining actively involved in software development, architecture, and solution design. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys mentoring others, solving complex technical problems, and driving the delivery of highly scalable applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead a pod of 5-6 software engineers focused on lending technology initiatives.
- Act as the technical authority for the team, guiding architecture and design decisions.
- Design, develop, and support RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor developers on engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and stakeholders to deliver business-critical solutions.
- Promote high-quality engineering practices including TDD, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
- Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and technical discovery sessions.
- Drive continuous improvement across development processes and team effectiveness.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on Java and Spring Boot development experience.
- Experience leading projects or providing technical leadership within Agile teams.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience working with Git and modern software development tools.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
- Experience with TDD and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
