About the Role
Segal McCambridge is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 1+ years of asbestos defense or toxic tort litigation experience to join our New York City office. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to work on complex matters, gain hands-on courtroom experience, and grow within a dynamic, trial-focused firm.
Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse caseload involving asbestos and toxic tort defense, product liability, and premises exposure claims.
- Draft pleadings, discovery, and dispositive motions.
- Conduct and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
- Manage discovery and develop case strategy.
- Attend court conferences, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
- Communicate directly with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel.
- Assist with trial preparation and participate in trial as needed.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice law in New York.
- 1+ years of experience in asbestos defense, toxic tort, or related litigation.
- Additional licenses in Connecticut, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania are highly desirable.
- Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Proven ability to handle motion practice, depositions, and client communications independently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, client-focused approach.
