About the Role
Segal McCambridge is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney for its New York office, focusing on general liability defense litigation. This role offers the opportunity to manage diverse caseloads, including premises liability, property damage, personal injury defense, and construction-related general liability, within a collaborative environment with mentorship from experienced trial attorneys.
Responsibilities
- Managing cases from inception through resolution or trial
- Drafting pleadings, discovery, and motions
- Taking and defending depositions
- Conducting legal research and developing case strategies
- Participating in mediations, arbitrations, court conferences, and trials
- Communicating with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
- Collaborating with partners and other team members on case strategy
Requirements
- Active license to practice law in New York
- 1+ year of civil litigation experience, ideally with a focus on general liability defense
- Strong litigation skills: pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and client reporting
- Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple cases and deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with mediation, arbitration, or trial is a plus
- Dual licensure in another jurisdiction is a bonus (CT preferred)
