About the Role
The Hilton Garden Inn Albany/SUNY is seeking an experienced Maintenance Helper to perform necessary repairs in maintaining the hotel's facilities, equipment, and grounds. This role supports preventive maintenance programs, performs basic repairs, and ensures a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for guests and employees.
Responsibilities
- Assist maintenance technicians with repairs and maintenance projects.
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and HVAC support tasks.
- Respond to work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and hotel facilities.
- Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
- Replace light bulbs, air filters, batteries, and other basic building components.
- Help maintain equipment and tools in good working condition.
- Support efforts to reduce equipment downtime and extend asset life.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of maintenance areas.
- Assist with repairs to furniture, fixtures, doors, locks, and windows.
- Help with landscaping, snow removal, and exterior property maintenance as needed.
- Move furniture, equipment, and supplies for hotel operations and events.
- Follow all hotel safety standards and maintenance procedures.
- Identify and report potential safety hazards.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with OSHA and company regulations.
Requirements
- Previous maintenance, construction, or facilities experience preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and maintenance practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when assigned tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
