About the Role

Praxis is building out its media and creative capability and is hiring a senior creative leader to lead its in-house media production team. This team imagines, develops, and produces the work Praxis puts into the world, including films and content series, brand and design, writing, and campaigns. The role reports to the Managing Partner of Media, Brand and Product and serves as one of Praxis's most senior leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the studio team & Managing Partner to set and carry the creative and editorial vision for Praxis.
  • Build and lead the studio so that strategy, development, production, and distribution work as one integrated capability.
  • Hold the standard for taste and quality across everything the studio makes, and keep asking what could be better.
  • Serve as creative producer across the studio's slate, from films and series to brand work and campaigns.
  • Roll up your sleeves on the detailed work of creative development and production when the work calls for it.
  • Carry work through to the finish, and build the systems, workflows, and tools that let the studio produce consistently, at volume, and at a high bar.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the growing media creative & production team.
  • Build out the rest of the studio team and model as the work grows.
  • Give people the support, clarity, and steadiness they need to do their best work, and establish the operating rhythms a growing studio needs to run well.
  • Ignite how Praxis Media's work reaches and grows its audiences across channels, including with strategic partners.
  • Drive the localization roadmap that adapts Praxis Media for the regions we serve, including Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and South America.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Operations leader to connect strong creative to real reach, engagement, and impact.
  • Build and steward relationships with mission-aligned creative partners, studios, and freelancers across disciplines.
  • Decide what the studio makes in-house and what it produces through partners, and tend those partnerships with care.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with mission-aligned partners and channels to reach new and engaged audiences.
  • Serve as the primary leader responsible for brand stewardship and cultivation across the broadest Praxis ecosystem.
  • Work with the Managing Partner and across the team to integrate the brand across all audience touchpoints.
  • Steward the Praxis brand and voice across every output, and hold the line on redemptive storytelling.
  • Serve as an innovative and contributing member of the Partner team at Praxis.

Requirements

  • 15+ years in creative leadership, ideally spanning agency, client or in-house, and entrepreneurial or startup settings.
  • A track record of producing standout creative work at a high bar, and of building and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience standing up or scaling a media production team, in-house agency, or production capability.
  • Experience owning or stewarding a brand across multiple audiences, channels, or markets.
  • Experience managing agency, studio, and freelance relationships across disciplines.
  • A portfolio that shows range and taste across formats, with a clear thread of work that moved people.
  • The instincts of a seasoned creative producer: excellent taste, and the tenacity and rigor to turn vision into finished, shipped work.
  • A coach and team builder first. You draw out the best in people, give them what they need, and lead with high EQ and low ego.
  • A builder who can stand up a creative function or studio from the foundation and grow the team and systems around it.
  • Strong brand instincts, with experience building and protecting a brand across many audiences and touchpoints.
  • The range to move between high-altitude vision and hands-on production detail without losing either.
  • Strong creative judgment across formats, including film, video, design, writing, and brand.
  • The ability to build and tend a network of creative partners, agencies, and freelancers.
  • Operational discipline across budgets, timelines, workflows, and tools, with fluency in the Praxis tool suite (Airtable, Slack, Asana, Notion, Figma, Adobe, Google Suite).
  • A builder's posture: resourceful with what we have, open to real feedback, and willing to own the work and see it through.

About the Company

  • Praxis began in 2011 with a desire to support and equip Christian entrepreneurs and has grown steadily into a 30+ person, NY-centric team advancing the redemptive imagination and action of founders, funders, and innovators motivated by their faith to address the major issues of our time.
  • As a $15M+/year nonprofit with ambitious growth plans, we're expanding our venture-building work globally, organizing around the major issues of our time, and building media and more to activate the redemptive potential of Christians around the world.
  • We see our team as the first carriers of the mission, building an organization that is great to work at, excellent in its craft, and redemptive in its finances as well as its programs.
  • Praxis supports Christian founders, funders, and creative leaders doing redemptive work in business, the nonprofit world, and wider culture.
  • Praxis finds its theological identity most clearly stated in the Lausanne Covenant (1974) and the Cape Town Commitment (2010). All Praxis staff and program participants are asked to affirm The Apostles’ Creed as a statement of their own beliefs.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate alignment with the above, as well as our mission to advance redemptive entrepreneurship.
  • We're seeking a leader who combines operational excellence with a spirit of humility and service, contributing to our vision of building an organization that embodies redemptive principles in all aspects of its work and culture, which includes shared rhythms such as daily team prayer and a company-wide weekly Sabbath, as detailed in our Rule of Life for Redemptive Entrepreneurs.
