About the Role
Level is seeking a Senior Release QA Analyst to own release quality, ensuring builds are ready to ship. This role involves running release-readiness and regression testing, driving defect resolution, and improving release safety and speed in collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Support.
Responsibilities
- Own release-readiness testing end to end, including test planning, regression, smoke, and post-deploy verification.
- Run go/no-go checks and provide clear, evidence-based quality recommendations to release owners.
- Resolve release issues independently and implement preventative measures through root-cause analysis and new test coverage.
- Report on release quality metrics such as defect escape rate, regression pass rate, and release cycle time.
- Lead small projects, including automating regression suites or enhancing release checklists, managing meetings and cross-functional communication.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that impede team progress, prioritizing across multiple releases and tasks.
- Build consensus and mediate conflicts regarding release timing, defect severity, and testing scope.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Support, and other teams to ensure successful releases.
- Contribute to recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring, including interviewing QA candidates and providing feedback.
Requirements
- Several years of QA experience with a proven record of owning release or regression testing for a production product.
- Strong test design skills, capable of creating risk-based test plans from loosely defined releases.
- Hands-on experience with test automation and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, GitHub Actions).
- Proficiency with defect tracking and test management tools.
- Experience with API testing.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive and self-driven approach, with the ability to seek help early and take initiative for improvements.
