About the Role
As an A&R intern, you will have the opportunity to observe and assist in the day-to-day activities of the A&R team, performing in-depth online research to monitor artists, sounds, and trends, participating in A&R meetings, and maintaining tracking tools.
Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth online research daily (TikTok, Instagram, notable DSP playlisting & charts, tastemaker channels & analytical tools) monitoring artists, sounds & trends and compile findings to send to entire A&R team on a weekly basis.
- Participate in weekly A&R meetings, engaging in discussions about artist development and music projects, and documenting key decisions and actions.
- Maintain tracking tools that assist and streamline A&R research (i.e. A&R Dashboard, CoBrand, Chartmetric etc.).
- Compile assets and statistics for department marketing tools.
- Update A&R local show calendar.
- Participate in weekly one-on-one meetings to learn about A&R concepts, approach, and discuss industry talking points.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completed or enrolled in a post-secondary or training program with a focus on music, entertainment or marketing.
- Passionate music lover.
- Social media savvy with a strong grasp of platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube for spotting trends and new artists.
- Knowledge of the Canadian music landscape, including record labels and independent artists.
- Comfortable using DSPs such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube etc.
- Detail-oriented researcher with strong data skills and a proactive mindset.
- Connected and actively involved in the local music scene.
