About the Role
Outset is seeking an experienced product designer to own significant parts of the Outset product, including a new 0→1 product called Digital Twins / Simulations Lab. The role involves translating complex, deep tech into simple and intuitive user experiences for researchers. You will collaborate closely with design, product, sales, and engineering teams, and work directly with founders and scientists.
Responsibilities
- Own product surfaces end to end, from early concepts through launch and iteration, including a central role in Simulations work.
- Simplify technical complexity by designing experiences that make simulation output legible and trustworthy to researchers.
- Stay close to customers by participating in conversations and using feedback to inform design decisions.
- Produce wireframes, interaction designs, and high-fidelity visuals, focusing on detailed execution in the shipped product.
- Question features that add complexity without significant value and help reduce scope to essential elements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product design industry experience, ideally including lead or founding designer roles.
- Experience taking a product from 0 to 1 or working in an early-stage, rapidly evolving environment.
- Genuine curiosity about technically complex systems and a track record of designing clear products on top of them.
- Comfort working directly with customers and using their feedback as a primary design input.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Strong but flexible opinions on design and product.
