About the Role

As a Professional Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, analysis, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects that improve and sustain essential community services. You will apply advanced engineering principles to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions, prepare technical designs and specifications, and oversee the quality and accuracy of project deliverables. Collaborating with engineers, designers, project managers, clients, and stakeholders, you will help guide projects through planning, design, permitting, and construction phases while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. In addition to serving as a technical resource for project teams, you will mentor developing engineers, contribute to client engagement efforts, and help drive successful project execution through sound engineering judgment, proactive communication, and strong leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and oversee the development of engineering design plans, specifications, technical reports, calculations, and construction documents for water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pump stations, lift stations, storage facilities, and treatment infrastructure.
  • Apply sound engineering principles, industry best practices, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations to develop technically accurate, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions that meet project objectives and client needs.
  • Conduct hydraulic modeling, flow analyses, capacity assessments, and system evaluations to support master planning efforts, capital improvement programs, infrastructure rehabilitation projects, and future growth planning initiatives.
  • Coordinate and integrate design efforts with multidisciplinary project teams, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and environmental professionals, to ensure seamless project delivery and technical consistency.
  • Support project managers through technical leadership, scope development, budgeting, scheduling, cost estimating, risk assessment, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews throughout all phases of project development.
  • Prepare and review permitting applications, engineering studies, technical memorandums, and regulatory submittals while coordinating with utility providers, municipalities, state agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and compliance.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including responding to contractor requests for information (RFIs), reviewing submittals and shop drawings, evaluating field conditions, conducting site visits, and assisting with construction observations to ensure design intent is achieved.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, EITs, and design staff by providing technical guidance, reviewing work products, sharing industry knowledge, and fostering professional development while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
