About the Role
LAPORTE is seeking a senior structural engineer with a minimum of 7 years of experience to contribute to the integration of structural solutions in industrial projects. This role involves leading the design, implementation, and coordination of structural engineering solutions in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform analysis and design of structures for industrial buildings, foundations, mezzanines, platforms, and equipment supports.
- Prepare technical documents including calculations, specifications, plans, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as the Quebec Building Code, CSA, and CNB.
- Provide on-site technical support, including coordination, inspections, and work monitoring.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (processes, mechanical, electrical, building) to integrate structural solutions.
- Participate in client, contractor, and partner meetings to ensure project quality and smooth execution.
- Supervise and support less experienced engineers and professionals on projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required.
- Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in industrial or steel structure projects.
- Excellent knowledge of design and construction codes and standards.
- Proven ability to lead a project from design to completion.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
- Experience with structural design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD, S-Frame, or equivalent) is an asset.
