About the Role
Policy Expert is seeking a Senior Pricing Analyst to leverage proprietary technology and smart data to offer reliable products and exceptional customer experiences. This role is crucial for transforming the insurance industry through innovative pricing strategies.
Responsibilities
- Own workstreams such as model build, optimization cycle, trading, or portfolio plan, and lead complex pricing initiatives.
- Frame ambiguous problems, delegate tasks, challenge briefs, and propose relevant work.
- Lead end-to-end model builds and refreshes, including method selection, validation, and sign-off.
- Translate analysis into commercial recommendations, quantifying trade-offs between volume, profit, customer outcomes, and regulation.
- Own pricing changes from design to implementation, including high-risk changes, test plan design, and code review.
- Monitor model and pricing performance, diagnose drift, and recommend updates.
- Set and improve standards for coding, modeling, testing, and quality control processes.
- Prepare and present governance and committee materials to senior forums.
- Support analysis for reinsurers, regulators, and partners.
- Mentor, review, and coach analysts, and lead project teams.
- Deputize for Manager or Technical Lead when needed.
- Make day-to-day decisions within the workstream's scope and set approaches with manager input.
- Recommend pricing changes for sign-off and implement them within agreed guidelines.
- Review and sign off others' work and set priorities for sub-groups.
Requirements
- Degree in a numerate subject, or equivalent experience.
- Typically 4+ years in insurance pricing or a closely related analytical role.
- Strong SQL and Python skills with the ability to write reusable, reviewable code.
- Strong modeling skills (e.g., GLMs, GBMs, demand or elasticity models, optimization, forecasting).
- Experience taking pricing changes live through a rating tool, including testing and governance.
- Good working knowledge of UK pricing regulation (GIPP, Consumer Duty, fair value).
- Evidence of reviewing others' work and an appetite to mentor.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills, including presenting to senior and non-technical audiences.
