About the Role
As a journalist specializing in science and research policy, you will track and analyze key developments in these fields at federal, state, and European levels. Your role involves identifying relevant trends, conducting in-depth research, and translating complex information into valuable journalistic content for decision-makers.
Responsibilities
- Research topics related to science, research, universities, technology, and innovation.
- Monitor and analyze political developments at federal, state, and European levels.
- Independently develop relevant research, exclusive stories, and journalistic formats.
- Conduct background discussions and interviews with stakeholders from politics, science, research, universities, associations, and business.
- Build and maintain a robust network in science, research, and politics.
- Clearly and precisely explain political processes and scientific/innovation policy developments.
- Actively contribute to the topic agenda and strategic direction of Research.Table.
- Collaborate closely with the editorial team, marketing, and publishing.
- Represent Research.Table at conferences, events, and industry gatherings.
- Contribute and develop own topic ideas into strong journalistic stories with the team.
Requirements
- Journalistic training and several years of editorial experience, preferably in political or science policy.
- Sound knowledge of science, research, and innovation policy.
- Understanding of political processes and the interplay between federal, state, and European levels.
- Enthusiasm for science, technology, and innovation, with the ability to quickly grasp complex topics.
- Knowledge of European research and innovation policy or willingness to quickly learn new subject areas.
- A reliable network in politics, science, research, universities, or associations.
- A good sense for relevant developments and the ability to create compelling journalistic stories.
- Thorough research skills, meticulous work ethic, and excellent language proficiency.
- Precise, clear, and confident writing style, even for complex political and scientific topics.
- Independent and analytical working style combined with team spirit.
- Willingness to work in or from Berlin.
