About the Role
ING Australia seeks a Lead DevOps Engineer to join its Platform Engineering function, reporting to the Platform Operations Manager. This leadership role requires deep technical expertise combined with a passion for operational excellence, automation, and continuous improvement. You will be accountable for the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of ING's critical technology platforms, driving the evolution of cloud-native platforms and operational capabilities to support the bank's digital strategy and business growth. The role demands a strategic, hands-on approach to platform engineering, cloud operations, application lifecycle management, infrastructure automation, solution design, and technical governance, advancing DevOps maturity and enabling high-performing teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational and infrastructure support to software delivery and engineering teams.
- Build and maintain tools that improve application monitoring, integration, and deployment processes.
- Manage and maintain application configuration and code repositories.
- Contribute to Platform Engineering initiatives with a focus on Continuous Delivery (CD) capabilities.
- Automate manual processes and develop solutions that improve operational efficiency and reliability.
Requirements
- Experience in software development, infrastructure engineering, or DevOps environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of container technologies, particularly Kubernetes.
- Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible.
- Experience working with both relational and non-relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB.
- Expertise in Azure Cloud, AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), Microservices, Kafka, and Terraform.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on automation and operational excellence.
- A continuous learning mindset and willingness to embrace AI-driven technologies and innovations.
