About the Role
Join our culinary team at Novotel Sydney Darling Square as a Demi Chef for a 12-month maternity leave coverage. You will assist the Head Chef with daily operational aspects of the kitchen and related outlets, including buffet breakfast, bar and restaurant, in-room dining, and function services.
Responsibilities
- Support the Chef de Partie and senior culinary team during service
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines
- Ensure stock is rotated, stored, and labelled correctly
Requirements
- Adaptable and enjoy working in a busy, high-volume kitchen
- Work well in a team environment as well as autonomously
- Genuine passion for cooking and developing culinary skills
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
