About the Role
Opendoor is seeking a Finance Systems & Automation Specialist to develop AI automations that streamline Accounting operations, minimize repetitive tasks, and accelerate the closing process. You will collaborate with Accounting teammates to identify manual processes, prioritize improvements, and build practical AI agents, reusable skills, and automated workflows.
Responsibilities
- Identify manual steps, bottlenecks, and duplicate work in collaboration with Accounting teammates.
- Prioritize automation opportunities based on business value, effort, and potential improvements in accuracy and reliability.
- Build and maintain AI agents, reusable skills, and workflows for recurring Accounting tasks.
- Create automations supporting journal-entry preparation, data validation, exception identification, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Design connected workflows and improve data movement between systems using integrations, APIs, scripts, or automation tools.
- Test solutions, evaluate AI outputs, and build exception handling and human review into workflows.
- Partner with Accounting, IT, and system owners to validate changes and obtain approvals before release.
- Document solutions, assist teammates with adoption, and support ongoing use and improvement.
- Measure results through time saved, fewer manual steps, accuracy, and reliability.
- Support administration and troubleshooting of Accounting systems as needed.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying useful AI agents, reusable skills, or automations in a business environment, with clear examples of personal contribution.
- Practical understanding of AI workflow design, tool use, and output evaluation, including examples of mistakes caught and corrected.
- Systems thinking: ability to explain how data and software components connect, anticipate failure points, and design scalable workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn unfamiliar processes and manage improvements from discovery through ongoing support.
- Clear communication and effective cross-functional collaboration, including explaining tradeoffs and seeking review when needed.
