About the Role

The Assistant Store Manager partners with the Store Manager to achieve company objectives by ensuring customer service excellence, client development, and adherence to visual merchandising and operational standards. This role also involves staff recruitment, coaching, and training, and overseeing all store operations in the Store Manager's absence.

Responsibilities

Set the example for exceptional customer service and store standards.
Act as a brand ambassador for James Perse.
Partner with the Store Manager in driving and motivating the team to achieve and exceed sales goals and store KPIs.
Consistently represent and reinforce company standards and policies.
Ensure the store team is knowledgeable about products, company history, and brand values.
Identify opportunities in product, sales, and team development and present solutions to the Store Manager.
Maintain awareness of local market knowledge, business trends, and competitors.
Suggest and pursue appropriate partnerships in the local community.
Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to achieve business objectives.
Coach and guide store staff to achieve individual sales goals and company KPIs.
Ensure customers are the number one store priority.
Assist, coach, and guide sales associates in suggesting additional merchandise and styling.
Ensure the sales team incorporates the James Perse lifestyle into the selling ceremony.
Proactively network and teach the sales team to build and develop a client base.
Partner with the Store Manager to create and execute strategies to maximize sales.
Ensure the store staff consistently prioritizes the customer's experience.
Lead clienteling activities within the store and measure success.
Ensure all clients are attended to in fitting rooms and POS sales execution is seamless and accurate.
Elevate customer service to differentiate the James Perse brand.
Lead and support staff in individualizing the customer experience.
Satisfactorily resolve customer issues and/or complaints.
Manage and maintain all aspects of the business in the absence of the Store Manager.
Conduct store meetings in partnership with the Store Manager.
Ensure staff adherence to wardrobe standards for the current season.
Ensure staff's floor presence appropriately represents the James Perse brand.
Assist the Store Manager in recruitment efforts to source talent.
Assist the Store Manager in onboarding new staff and training existing staff.
Assist the Store Manager in ensuring retention of top talent and succession planning.
Assist the Store Manager in clearly articulating company expectations to staff.
Assist the Store Manager in follow-up and monitoring of store staff in goal achievement.
Assist the Store Manager in holding staff accountable through coaching and counseling.
Assist the Store Manager in conducting performance appraisals of store staff.
Open and close the store and conduct all opening and closing procedures.
Ensure staff adherence to all store standards (cleanliness, maintenance, etc.).
Lead by example and ensure Visual Merchandising standards are consistently upheld.
Process merchandise movements for the store staff.
Ensure all staff participate in product replenishment and back stock maintenance.
Ensure maximum product is available on the floor, sized, folded, and presented according to standards.
Complete all required daily and weekly reporting.
Process and manage timekeeping for store staff.
Partner with the Stock team and Store Manager on cycle counts and inventory counts.
Ensure all transfers, consolidations, pricing, shipping/receiving are done in compliance with company policies.

Requirements

Minimum 3-4 years of experience in retail sales or a related field.
At least 2 years of supervisory responsibility.
High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
Ability to relocate is preferable to maximize career development opportunities.

Skills

Strong computer skills (MS Office).
Teamwork, or similar retail system, skills.
Foreign language skills a plus.
Ideally has a cultivated and established clientele following.
