About the Role
Own the product direction for one of the largest sports apps in the country, leading a small PM team and working directly with design and engineering leads. This player-coach role involves setting strategic direction while staying involved in the details of product development.
Responsibilities
- Set product strategy for the CBS Sports App and translate it into clear priorities.
- Own the app's product plan, including sequencing work, balancing risk, tracking outcomes, and making decisions on product continuation.
- Prototype concepts using tools like Claude and Cursor to remove ambiguity, test ideas with fans, and iterate on strategy.
- Coach and develop 1-2 Product Managers through feedback and growth planning.
- Partner with design and engineering directors on cross-squad alignment and process evolution.
- Represent product to executive leadership by translating fan behavior, competitive dynamics, and product performance into clear narratives.
Requirements
- 10+ years in product management, with significant leadership experience.
- Experience in a consumer environment, ideally mobile-first and at scale.
- Proven track record of owning strategy, shipping products, and developing other PMs.
- Strong prioritization instincts, balancing app-level strategy with problem-level detail.
- Comfort prototyping in code with AI tools like Claude or Cursor.
- Fluency with product analytics, experimentation, and outcome accountability.
- An AI-native working style, utilizing LLMs to solve problems and accelerate work.
