About the Role
The ideal candidate is a strong cloud architect skilled in big-picture thinking and hands-on technical work. This role focuses on building and improving core compute, network, and edge infrastructure, playing a critical part in scaling the iCapital platform with an automation-first approach. The engineer will collaborate with application and platform teams to onboard services, establish connectivity, troubleshoot traffic, and maintain consistent networking patterns.
Responsibilities
- Design and continually improve Kubernetes architecture, assisting operationally with cluster lifecycle management.
- Integrate new self-hosted and SaaS services, potentially assisting developers with software architecture design.
- Manage Transit Gateway, Network Firewall, and external connectivity.
- Provide architectural guidance for edge and traffic management, including CDN, DNS, and TLS strategies.
- Produce and maintain reference architectures, design documents, and architectural guardrails.
- Collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams to ensure practical and adopted platform standards.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in platform, cloud, or infrastructure engineering with demonstrated architectural responsibility.
- Strong hands-on experience designing and operating Kubernetes platforms in production, including EKS autoscaling, node provisioning, and security.
- Deep understanding of AWS infrastructure, including networking, security primitives, and managed services.
- Expertise in cloud networking architecture patterns, VPC design, routing, and planning for scale.
- Strong understanding of ingress/egress, TGW design, and private connectivity.
- Comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor with cross-team influence.
- Very strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining architectural decisions to diverse audiences.
