About the Role
Pinterest is seeking a Lead Product Policy Manager for its Ads Policy team. This role will focus on developing and leading policy for new monetization products, features, and ad formats, as well as ad targeting and brand safety. The goal is to ensure Pinners and advertisers feel safe, comply with regulations, and maintain industry leadership.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Policy teammates, cross-functional partners, executives, and outside experts to develop global ad targeting, brand safety, and monetization policies.
- Continuously evaluate and iterate on policy approaches.
- Partner with Trust & Safety, Product, Sales, and Engineering teams to provide policy guidance and scale policy enforcement globally.
- Leverage AI-powered tools and machine learning systems to scale policy enforcement, detect policy-violating content, and assess risks.
- Mentor teammates and partner with the Senior Manager to set strategy for the team, including prioritization of competing demands.
- Facilitate and productively engage in complex policy discussions, including respectfully challenging team members and xfn partners, using contrarian techniques to strengthen policy analysis, and incorporating new and diverse viewpoints.
Requirements
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in a relevant field such as policy or law, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in trust & safety, ad or monetization policy development; brand safety or ad targeting experience a plus.
- Experience working with or alongside AI/ML systems, particularly in content moderation, trust & safety, or policy enforcement.
- Experience using AI-assisted tools (e.g., policy drafting aids, data analysis tools) to increase the quality and speed of work.
- Experience working with revenue teams and understanding business metrics/KPIs.
- Excellent judgment and critical thinking skills: ability to assess inputs, weigh tradeoffs, manage ambiguity, ask thought-provoking questions, and make difficult decisions.
- Stellar communication skills: ability to act autonomously, craft complex written communication, and strong verbal communication.
- Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders from junior to executive levels.
- Experience handling sensitive escalations with the ability to independently analyze data from multiple sources to draw appropriate conclusions and make suitable recommendations.
- Detail-oriented leadership skills: ability to lead and manage multiple complex policy projects and help set strategy.
- Skilled relationship builder: ability to maintain collaborative partnerships within the team, across the company, and with outside audiences.
- Ability to listen to multiple perspectives, act as a team player, and voice different perspectives respectfully.
