About the Role
FINNY is a metrics-driven company seeking a senior Analytics Engineer to own the analytics warehouse end-to-end. This role involves building and maintaining data models, defining key company metrics, and creating trusted reports. You will collaborate with various departments to translate their needs into actionable data insights and will play a key role in growing the data team.
Responsibilities
- Own the analytics warehouse day to day, including staging and core models, dimensions, facts, and identity resolution across systems.
- Define the metrics FINNY runs on, ensuring they have tests and documentation for consistent use across teams.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to transform their questions into usable models and reports.
- Own the BI layer, including tool selection, semantic layer management, and maintaining authoritative reports.
- Ensure the warehouse can be correctly queried by AI tools.
- Manage the dbt project using software engineering best practices like version control, code review, CI, tests, and documentation.
Requirements
- Typically 4+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or analytics, with experience owning models relied upon by other teams.
- Strong SQL and dimensional modeling skills, including facts, dimensions, conformed keys, and clear table grains.
- Experience with dbt (or equivalent) in production, including git, tests, and CI.
- Proven ability to define business metrics used for decision-making and resolve discrepancies.
- Experience collaborating with non-technical partners to clarify vague questions and deliver clear answers.
- Scrappy with a strong sense of ownership, willing to assist in areas outside the core job description.
- Excited to work in person, 5 days a week, in the Chelsea, NYC office.
