About the Role
Brodie is projected to reach about 700 teams this winter and is building toward 1,400 by summer 2027. This role involves building the growth machine, including the CRM, automations, reporting, and playbook, to enable a small team to manage operations across multiple cities and scale effectively. It is a systems-focused role, prioritizing systems building, followed by growth marketing, and then teaching.
Responsibilities
- Own the CRM data model, lead stages, routing, dashboards, and hygiene, and link every signed team to a captain, a City Launcher, and a source.
- Build playbook v1 with the City Launchers, including launch checklists tracked in the CRM, the affiliate and referral program structure, and data for future Brodie launches.
- Automate aspects of the launch playbook and CRM process to create a system that new launchers in new cities can operate independently.
- Develop weekly targets by city, channel, and season to manage growth toward 1,400 teams.
- Create a weekly growth scorecard for leadership review.
- Implement speed-to-lead for captain inquiries, ensuring replies within minutes with human oversight for unusual situations.
- Automate captain and team follow-up, referral tracking, unpaid deposit reminders, City Launcher reporting, and mass communications.
- Build agents to populate CRM fields from calls and messages, reducing manual data entry.
- Ensure all agents operate in propose mode with human approvers, logging their actions and earning auto mode based on acceptance rates.
- Automate repetitive manual tasks performed by the team and train them to manage the automated processes.
- Integrate marketing consent into all capture points and workflows to ensure compliance with email and SMS regulations (CASL, CAN-SPAM, TCPA).
- Build systems to protect deliverability through authentication, list hygiene, suppression, and send-rate controls.
- Manage customer data securely, adhering to least-privilege access, prohibiting uncontrolled uploads to third-party platforms, and maintaining records of data usage.
- Collaborate with the VP of Engineering on security controls for built systems and identify potential gaps.
- Integrate Meta conversion events, self-attribution forms, and landing-page tracking into the CRM to measure ad spend by cost per signed team.
- Conduct weekly landing-page and signup experiments, analyzing results and iterating on successful strategies.
- Document all systems to enable operation by the Sr. Director of Growth, City Launchers, and leadership without direct involvement.
- Record short demos of all built systems and train the team on their usage.
- Support campaign work, including conceptualizing waitlist or drop-in campaigns for new cities and making the production process repeatable.
- Track adoption, usage, and impact of implemented systems and automations.
- Deliver Growth playbook v1 and the CRM with clean stages, routing, reporting, and affiliate program structure in use by City Launchers within the first 90 days.
- Implement at least three automations in production, each with a named human approver and passed consent and deliverability checks within the first 90 days.
- Create a weekly growth scorecard on a single screen within the first 90 days.
- Report ad spend as cost per signed team, by city, within the first 90 days.
- Provide a clear recommendation on future hiring needs within the first 90 days.
Requirements
- Proficiency in building with AI daily, including LLMs, agent tooling, APIs, automation tools (e.g., Claude Code, n8n, Clay), Python or TypeScript, and SQL.
- Experience shipping production automation that handled thousands of leads or records weekly, with demonstrable results.
- Experience building AI systems compliantly and securely, including handling marketing consent, data access, deliverability, approval gates, and error correction.
- Proven ability to move a funnel metric and explain the 'before,' 'after,' and 'why,' understanding the interplay of acquisition, conversion, retention, and referral.
- Experience making growth decisions based on messy data, with the ability to identify and articulate data trustworthiness issues.
- Ability to build systems used by non-technical individuals, including providing training and ensuring continued adoption after departure.
- Capacity to drive results without direct reports, contributing to a collaborative building environment.
- Ownership of outcomes without ego, bringing analysis and next steps when initiatives fail, and voicing concerns about plans.
- Based in Toronto and preference for working in the Toronto HQ office.
