As a founding member of the team, this person will play a critical role in establishing Complex Latin's social identity, developing its editorial voice, growing its audience, and creating original content across music, sports, entertainment, fashion, food, and streetwear.
Responsibilities

- Monitor social performance and audience behavior, using data and platform insights to inform editorial decisions.
- Refine content strategy and recommend strategic pivots.
- Identify emerging platforms, formats, and audience behaviors, continuously experimenting with new approaches.
- Demonstrate strong editorial judgment and cultural sensitivity, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and authentic.
- Write, edit, and publish engaging social copy in both English and Spanish.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and manage a team of freelance social editors.
- Participate in original video content creation, including developing concepts, supporting production, and appearing on camera.
- Support the promotion and social execution of Complex's commerce, experiential, and branded initiatives.
- Share cultural insights, emerging trends, platform learnings, and best practices with the broader organization.
- Explore and integrate AI tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and support creative innovation.
Requirements
- 4-5+ years of professional social media, digital editorial, or content creation experience, preferably with a publisher, media company, or culturally relevant brand.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is required.
- Deep, nuanced knowledge of U.S. Latino culture and its diverse communities.
- Demonstrated editorial judgment to tell stories authentically.
- Demonstrated understanding of major social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and YouTube Shorts.
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills.
- Strong editorial instincts, sound judgment, and the ability to identify stories, trends, memes, and emerging talent before they reach mainstream attention.
- Comfort and willingness to appear on camera as part of original social content.
- Ability to interpret social performance metrics and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Proficiency in social content creation and editing tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, or comparable software.
- Must be able to work in person from Complex's New York City office.
